apps we love: vine.

Obsessed with instagram. Check.
Amused by stupid iPhone videos. Check.
Just found another major time suck via yet another social channel. Check Check.

Vine just launched a week or so ago and is catching on like wildfire. It was launched by Twitter and allows users to catalogue and share six second videos + sound - think of it like an animated instagram feed. It requires no editing or filtering, just six seconds of your choosing, with optional cutting and starting with just a fingertip. This might just be the flavor of the week, but I'm already getting addicted.
I love that it pushes the boundaries on the level of creative social sharing, and showcases people's weirdness on a whole new level. Follow me @ House of Bentley. Happy Vining ya'll.

swag your tech.

Have you ever taken a moment to stop and look at how as a chick our accessories are so much more complex than they used to be? Like most of you, I'm a constant plugged-in swarm of i-everything. So why not treat your gadgets with the same stylish respect as the rest of your necessities? Considering how much time we spend graming, texting, jamming out and online shopping - it's well worth a stylish little investment for some gadget swag.

CHANEL Spring 2013 Haute Couture

I love that big time brands - even the iconic Chanel - are embracing social and making their runway so accessible to the masses who aren't VIP at NYFW. Burberry started the trend, and now Chanel is sharing their exclusive runway shows - which totally made my Saturday morning. Their 2013 Spring-Summer show was very unconventionally placed in a scene stole from mother nature. The looks are simply stunning, and expectedly parisian chic. But, what I really adore about Chanel is the total wearability and effortlessness of every piece. It's worth the 17 minute watch.

spoiler alert: there's a lot of tweed.

on the record | Jessie Ware

I've been obsessed with this track below lately - and pretty much everything Jessie Ware does. She has not only an amazing voice and talent for beats but also has such a distinct vintage glamour that I simply love. For more on Jessie, check out this recent interview.

klutz-proof cat eye.

I'm a huge fan of the cat eye trend, and having tried it time and time again, I just can't seem to pull of the annoyingly perfect curve of a line popping up everywhere. Coordination has never been my strong suit. That's why learning this new trick from Refinery29 made me jump for jollies. Tiffany Patton, a NYC based makeup artist shows you how to rock the cat eye using a simple black eyeliner pencil, a q-tip and a dab of cream (she uses MAC fast response eye cream, but I use Benefit "It's Potent" eye cream and found it worked just as well).

{One extra tip is to do this before you apply your foundation powder as the cream can create unevenness in your skin makeup. Another option is to use a small brush to lightly re-apply powder around the corner of the eye to create a cleanness around the liner.}

For the less liquid-pen-challenged, I've tried these pictured above with some luck,
and if you have the time and precision they work wonders.
Stila is by far the easiest to apply and control, with Chanel taking a close second.

oreo mint truffles.

These little dandies are by far my favorite discovery from our annual holiday bake-a-thon. I'm a fan of any mint flavored sweet, but It's definitely a taste I've acquired over time - considering as a child I would show disgust at my mom's chocolate chip mint ice cream while I devoured my gummy worm and chiclet filled bubblegum fro-yo.

20 years later, my mother and I decided to put a minty twist on our usual mint truffles.

Truffles are a perfect indulgence, and might seem intricate and complicated. But yes, this version requires only 4 ingredients and about 20 minutes of your time. Plus, the cream cheese makes them melt in your mouth and highly addictive.

                   {ingredients}

                                1 package of Mint Oreos | 8 oz. cream cheese | white chocolate chips |
                                                          green food coloring | sprinkles (optional)

                   {directions}
      1. Mash up a bag of mint oreos
      2. Place in mixer with cream cheese until fully blended together
      3. Roll the dough into 1 inch balls
      4. Melt the white chocolate in the microwave in 30 second intervals (you can add a bit of vegetable oil here to make the chocolate smoother
      5. Add just a dash of green food coloring, enough to give it a light green tint
      6. Dip each ball into the chocolate mixture and set on wax paper or parchment paper to cool
      7. Immediately add sprinkles before the chocolate dries and then refrigerate for 10 minutes
      8. Add a daily limit for yourself, as you'll likely eat the whole batch after the first one.

on the record | new year, new sounds.

I don't really believe in new year's resolutions. Not to sound like Debbie Downer, but why is it that everyone picks this time of the year for an overly optimistic life change you'll only inevitably feel guilty for cheating or failing on? Why not commit to something you're actually excited about? Call me crazy but that's a much happier approach. And no, you don't like going to the gym. No one likes going to the gym. Plus, you know the second a Breaking Bad marathon comes on and your friend wants to do wine night there's no chance you're passing that up for the elliptical.

So, rather, I vow to do a few things that get me jazzed on the passing of another year in the life. Try new restaurants. Play outside with the little chunk more. Have more girls' nights. Experiment with some new make-up. Blog more. Have a treat-yo-self day once a month. Go to a few bars I've never been to. Trade in my go-to playlists with new bands and artists.

And that last one led me to this. 13 recent band discoveries to help ring in 2013.

Happy listening.

the gold bowl.

In case you need a break from the bowl game madness (or at least it's hit full force in this adobe) here are a few bowls of a bit more chic taste. Arien Lauder - the stylish granddaughter of Estée - just released a line of home decor and completely won me over. I'm slightly obsessed with gold of late, as evidenced by every piece of jewelry I own and this recent little purchase. Time to start saving for a piece of Lauder's lovely little line.
